Yardlong Bean Curry PDF Print E-mail

  • 2 tbsp cooking oil
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1 medium onion chopped
  • 4 cloves garlic chopped
  • 200 gm chopped tomatoes
  • 1½ tsp of chili powder
  • ¾ tsp turmeric powder
  • 500 gm yardlong beans cut into 1 inch pieces
  • 3 fresh green chilis chopped
  • 3 fresh red chilis chopped
  • Salt to taste
  • 60 ml plain yoghurt
  • Fresh coriander leaf


Heat the cooking oil in a wok. When the oil is hot add the cumin seeds. When the seeds begin to pop add the onions and garlic and stir fry for about 5 minutes ubtil brown. Stir in the tomatoes, chili powder, turmeric and salt then add the beans and fresh chilis. Stir well, cover and cook for around 5 minutes. Then slowly add the yoghurt, recover and cook for a further 5 minutes. Serve garnished with fresh coriander leaf.
